ABOUT THE ARTIST
Simone Rosenbauer is a German–Australian contemporary photographer celebrated for her evocative explorations of memory, place, and identity. She currently lives and works on Awabakal and Worimi land in Newcastle, Australia.
Rosenbauer studied Photography at the University of Applied Sciences Dortmund in Germany, earning both her BA and MA in 2006. In 2008, she received the prestigious European Endeavour Award from the Australian Government, which enabled her to pursue an MFA in Photography at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, completed in 2010.
Rosenbauer’s fine art photography examines the delicate interplay between people, time, and the environment. Through still images, she captures the physical and emotional connections that define the human experience — moments of joy, loss, and transformation. Her work reflects a profound sensitivity to the passage of time and the ever-shifting relationship between humans and nature.
Her photographs have been exhibited internationally across Australia, the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa, including notable presentations at Aperture Gallery (New York), Paris Photo, Expo Chicago, Laurence Miller Gallery (New York), AIPAD (New York), Musée d’Elysée (Switzerland), Les Rencontres d’Arles (France), Art Miami, and PhotoSpring Festival Beijing (China). Rosenbauer’s award-winning work is held in major public and private collections worldwide.
