About the artist
Eric Moore (b. 1990) is a contemporary American painter whose work explores the emotive possibilities of color through minimalist structure, atmospheric gradients, and contemplative abstraction. Unlike many artists who begin creating at a young age, Moore’s artistic path emerged unexpectedly. While in college, he encountered live painters at music and arts festivals, an experience that catalyzed his own creative practice. He began drawing and painting in his early twenties, developing his foundational skills outside traditional art-school routes.
Nearly a decade later, in 2019, Moore committed himself fully to his artistic career. As he transitioned away from the visionary aesthetics associated with the festival world, his practice evolved swiftly and deliberately. Throughout 2019 and 2020 he deepened his exploration of contemporary abstraction, drawing influence from geometric abstraction, minimalism, and color field painting. During this period, Moore cultivated a distinct visual vocabulary defined by luminous gradients, precise linear structures, and flowing chromatic transitions.
Moore’s current body of work examines the psychological and sensory impact of color through the interplay of light, line, and saturation. His paintings often feature expansive fields of smoothly shifting hues or concentric sequences of color bands, each composition designed to highlight the relational tension between color, beauty, and the viewer’s perception. By distilling form to its essentials, Moore positions color as the primary vehicle for emotional resonance.
Theoretically, Moore prioritizes aesthetic experience over conceptual narrative. Rejecting explicit symbolism or external references, he strives to create works that operate on a visceral, intuitive level. His minimalist approach seeks to bypass language altogether, opening space for pure subjectivity, an interior experience that unfolds uniquely for each viewer. Ultimately, Moore’s aim is simple yet profound: to generate a direct encounter with beauty.
